Sickle cell disorder is a genetic blood disorder that affects the shape of red blood cells. It can lead to various health complications due to the abnormal shape of the cells.

Sickle cell disorder is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner, meaning both parents must pass on the mutated gene for a child to have the disease.

Common symptoms include chronic pain, fatigue, jaundice, and susceptibility to infections.

How We Achieve Our Mission

Creating Awareness

We believe that knowledge is power. We conduct extensive educational campaigns to increase awareness about sickle cell disorder, its causes, symptoms, and management. Through workshops, seminars, and online resources, we aim to empower both patients and their families with the information they need. Our mission is to use community engagement to foster a sense of belonging and solidarity among those affected by sickle cell disorder. Our events and gatherings would provide opportunities for individuals to connect, share their experiences, and find strength in each other.

Support & Advocacy

We are committed to providing a strong support network for individuals and families affected by sickle cell disorder. This includes giving emotional support, and advocating for improved healthcare services and policies for those with the disorder. Our support cut across counselling individuals with SCD on how to overcome low self-esteem and deal with stigmatization. We also render spiritual support via counselling to build the hope to live.

Pain management and training

MAC-SALVE SICKLE FOUNDATION shall be supporting parents with SCD child(ren) to manage the SCD related pains by engaging our team of professionals to assist them at finding better treatments and ultimately seek secures for sickle cell disorder persons.

Managing Drug Abuse

We believe drug abuse in the bid to lessen pains is what some SCD patients are prone to, we therefore have rehabilitation passion for drug addicted person with SCD.
