World Sickle Cell Day Awareness Event at University of Lagos

On June 19th, 2024, MAC-SALVE SICKLE Foundation proudly hosted a significant event in recognition of World Sickle Cell Day at the University of Lagos. This impactful event was generously sponsored by NNPC SNEPCo and brought together a diverse group of participants, including healthcare professionals, students, advocates, and individuals living with sickle cell disorder.

Event Highlights:

  • Opening Ceremony: The event commenced with an inspiring opening ceremony featuring keynote speeches from esteemed guests and experts in the field of sickle cell research and treatment. These speeches highlighted the importance of awareness, early diagnosis, and the need for continuous support for those affected by sickle cell disorder.
  • Educational Sessions: Various educational sessions and workshops were conducted throughout the day. These sessions provided valuable information on the biology of sickle cell disorder, the significance of genotype compatibility, and effective management strategies for those living with the condition.
  • Interactive Activities: The event included several interactive activities aimed at engaging the community and spreading awareness. Participants had the opportunity to engage in Q&A sessions, participate in blood donation drives, and visit informational booths set up by healthcare organizations and advocacy groups.
